He was predeceased by: his wife Ada Marie Franklin; his son Barry; his stepson Larry Joe Richardson; and his siblings, George Franklin, Robert Franklin, Dorothea Lappat and Helen McFatrich.

He is survived by: his children, Mike Franklin (Donna Sue) of Sedalia, Richard Franklin (Renea) of Springfield and Carla Anderson (Mike) of Sedalia; and his siblings, Betty Hickam of Sedalia, Gary Franklin of Little Rock, AR and William Franklin of Seattle, WA.. He is also survived by six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
