He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Sylvester and Esther Shanahan (Dittel); his spouse Shirley Joan Farnam; his children, Douglas Shanahan, Danene Shanahan (Jarvis), Dodi Shanahan, David Shanahan and Darren Shanahan; and his sisters, Joy and Judy.
He is survived by: his son Derrek Shanahan of Carver, Massachusetts; and his siblings, Anthony Shanahan of Sedalia, Jane Frazier of Vermillion and Jeri Preston of Vermillion. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
