He was predeceased by : his parents, William Mac McDowell and Artie Nadine McDowell-Blakely (Pettis); his wife Nancy Homan; and his sister Judy Woolery Camirand. He is survived by : his children, Laurie Naylor of Kansas City, Heidi Schwartz of Sedalia, Kelly Sims of Sedalia and William Joseph II (Maria McDowell); and his grandchildren, Hilary, Casey, Brady, Glen, Josh, Holli, Zachary, Michael, Cassie, Taylor, Torry and Trey. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Rea Funeral Chapel (3510 W 16th St, Sedalia, MO 65301).

Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Arms Memory Care and Assisted Living or Heartland Hospice in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
