He was predeceased by: his parents, William K. VanVickle and Melba Seitz VanVickle. He is survived by: his sons, Patrick VanVickle of Apex, Gregory VanVickle of Peoria and Karl VanVickle of Knob Noster; and his sisters, Jennifer VanVickle of Chapel Hill and Jeanette VanVickle of Cary. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Foundation or Disabled American Veterans.
