It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Galen L Gabriel of Shelbina, Missouri, born in Lawrence, Kansas, who passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin A. Gabriel and Lillian Z. Milburn Gabriel; and his siblings, Doris Lange and Gayle Gabriel. He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his sons, Greg L. Gabriel (Jenny) of Wentzville and Kevin A. Gabriel of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandsons, Grant L. Gabriel of St. Louis and Trent J. Gabriel of Iowa City; his siblings, Margaret Hodges of Lawrence, Kansas and Robert Gabriel of Eudora, Kansas; and his family Gabe. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Macon Health Care Center's Courtyard, to support refurbishment of the outdoor space where Gabe enjoyed spending time during his care, or to Shriners Children's Hospital.
