He was predeceased by: his son Shannon Jones Sr.; his siblings, Roland Jones, Wesley Jones, Ricky Skelton Sr. and Sharon Jones; and his grandson Ashton Lee Skelton.

He is survived by: his children, Steven Jones Jr., David Knight, Ricky Skelton (Elizabeth), Matthew Barrick, Raschell Hodgkiss (Tim), Crissy Williams and Michelle Ferguson; his sister Karen Jones; his grandchildren, Ricky D Skelton (Jordan), Britney Learue (Michael Gillespie Jr.) and Jake Hodgkiss; and his great grandchildren, Maria Gillespie and Michael M. Gillespie III. He is also survived by his sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law.
