He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Petty and Lyman Petty; his son Volney Kim Bishop; his brother Ronald Bishop; and his sister-in-law Elva Bishop.

He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Lee Bishop of Sikeston, MO, Pamela A Bishop of St. Louis, MO, Terry Sczapa (Randy) of Sikeston, MO, Bud Sypher (Kim) of Florida, Donald Sypher (Brooke) of South Carolina and Michael Sypher (Chris) of Florida; his brother Mark Hensley (Marianne) of Sikeston, MO; and his aunt Mary "Cindy" Childers. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
