He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel L. Shortt and J. Dorene Shortt (Swearengin); and his siblings, Sandy Weter and Bill Shortt. He is survived by: his daughters, Casey Burkett (Justin) and Jessie Batterson (Taylor); the mother of his children Lisa; his brother Dennis Shortt (Susan); his brother-in-law Bob Weter; his grandchildren, Sam, Gabriel, Alexander, Atticus and Solomon; his nieces, Kim and Jennifer; and his nephew Daniel.
