It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Wayne Shortt of Sparta, Missouri, who passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gary Wayne Shortt to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel L. Shortt and J. Dorene Shortt (Swearengin); and his siblings, Sandy Weter and Bill Shortt. He is survived by: his daughters, Casey Burkett (Justin) and Jessie Batterson (Taylor); the mother of his children Lisa; his brother Dennis Shortt (Susan); his brother-in-law Bob Weter; his grandchildren, Sam, Gabriel, Alexander, Atticus and Solomon; and his sibling's children, Kim, Jennifer and Daniel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Holden Cremation & Funeral Service (8058 State Hwy 14, Sparta, MO 65753).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bluefield Project (https://www.bluefieldproject.org) in Gary's memory.
