She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvin Borders and Bernice Poole Borders; her siblings, Avanelle Coday and Kenny Borders; and her siblings-in-law, Melvin Coday, Doug Elliott, Thomas Hargrove, Kerm Cookson, Frosty Martin, Leon Cookson and Deeann Borders.

She is survived by: her husband James Cookson of Puxico, Missouri.; her children, Jim Cookson of Plainfield and Jami (Rob Gillum) of Cape Fair; her grandson Austin (Jennifer); and her great grandchild Benjamin Adams of Springfield, Missouri..
