He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Whitney; his children, John Whitney (Rachael), Amanda Green (Brandon) and Russel Whitney (Breana); his stepchildren, Vern Williams (Nancy) and Harrison Jones; his siblings, Mary Abbott (Critt), Ralph Whitney (Earlene) and Deann Kotlarz (Chris); and his grandchildren, Alexander, Tiffany and Vern Jr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
