He was predeceased by: his parents, Kate Pickens and Dewey Pickens; his sisters, Ruth (Joe Librach) and Loyce (Harold Turner); and his grandson Shawn "Bubba" Pickens.

He is survived by: his wife Ruby "Jean" Pickens; his sons, Michael (Susan Pickens), Timmy Pickens, Steve Pickens and David Pickens; his grandchildren, Amanda (Pickens) and Jeff Bergman; his sons, Kacie (Pickens), Gunnar Cyr, Courtnee (Pickens), Landon Hoffman, Jesse Pickens and Stephen Barnes; his great grandchildren, Grayson, Milo, Chloe, Daphne and Forrest; and his sibling's children, Harolyn, Joy, Shiela and Randy. He is also survived by numerous friends and neighbors.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Greenlawn Funeral Home North (3506 N National Ave, Springfield, MO 65803). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at the Cemetery Greenlawn Memorial Gardens (3506 N National Ave, Springfield, MO 65807).
