He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Lee and Susan Keith (Keeth); and his siblings, Kenneth, Ralph, Harold Lee, Wilma, Bonnie Lee and Lillian Pierce (Lee).

He is survived by: his wife Carol Lee; his children, Doyle W. Lee Jr. (family: Tony E. Lee, Timmy Joe Lee) and Carey A. Sharp (Christopher Shine, family: Cheri K. Lee); and his cousins, Kenneth Lee, Gary Lee and Ted Lee. He is also survived by many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
