She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Louise Carter and Louis Edgar Smisson; her husband Joseph Leo Harris; her brother Leonard Franklin Smisson (Mary Lou Gilbride); her nephews, Leonard Franklin Smisson, Jr. and Christopher Bernard Smisson; and her brothers, Walter Carter Smisson, Sr. of Commerce, GA and Louis Edgar Smisson, Jr. (Martha Beck Smisson) of Ranburne, AL..

She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Olivia Harris of Atlanta, GA and Cecelia Ann Harris (Ted Dillard) of Springfield, MO; her grandson Anthony Dillard (Darcy); her great grandchild Emery; her grandson Travis; her son Benjamin Leo Harris of Springfield, MO.; and her sister-in-law Mary Leone Perkerson Smisson of Commerce, GA.. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many beloved cousins.

Mrs. Harris donated her body to Washington University School of Medicine.
