With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary Thompson (Springfield, Missouri), who passed away on November 19, 2025 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though Gary may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Thompson and Bernice Thompson. He is survived by: his children, Dori, Tim, Pete and Meri; his wife Valerie; and his sister Cheryl. He is also survived by his four children and their spouses, and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hillside Baptist Church (8366 MO-266, Springfield, MO 65802). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

“Continued.. And though I only knew Gary for the past few years, I count him as one of my closest friends. We enjoyed many conversations and meetings while working together. We have lost a faithful solider and as many will also share, we have lost a dear friend! Praise the Lord that Gary’s hope has been made sure! “Tomorrows is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because your seat will be empty.” 1 Sam 20:18”

In three short years while serving with him I observed not only a dogged consistency in his approach to issues but also a deep compassion for souls! He never got over his salvation and would carefully weave his testimony into the conversation in order to probe and draw others to the Lord.”
