He was predeceased by: his mother Lorene; and his significant other Virgil V. Anderson. He is survived by: his sister Melba Lemke (Layton); his nephew Kevin Lemke; his nieces, Nichole Baker (Dan) and Ilsa Eischens (Josh); his son Daniel Bergen (Vivian); and his grandchildren, Christian and Kyle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools in honor of Les's enduring commitment to education and community.
