It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nellie Mae Barner in Springfield, Missouri, born in Elkland, Missouri, who passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, David Shaffer and Bertha Shaffer; and her siblings, Alice East, Catherine East, Sam, Lee, Farrel, David and Elzia.

She is survived by: her daughters, Angie Grelle (Bruce) and Marla Smith (Steve); and her granddaughters, Cassie Johnson (Jacob), Danielle Hartsell (Nate) and Emily Hale (Dave). She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Season's Hospice.
