“Karen and all of Ralph’s family, Ralph was a unique and kind man who always loved life, loved teaching, and was seriously funny. That is how I remember him. Our talks ranged from Social Movement theory and history all the way to the concept of love. He was a TRUE philosopher. I feel like our discipline lost so much last year (nationally—it was devastating), and now Ralph is gone, but his lessons are passed on, every day. I miss him, but I will always teach with him in mind. Love to all.”

“Ralph was an amazing engaging person with an intellect that was out of this world. We were colleagues in the Dept of COM at MSU and he was always a great person to go to for advice and mentoring. This mentoring extended beyond the academic setting as it was Ralph who wisely steered me away from putting a bid on a home to the one that my family and I happily live in to this day. He knew his houses. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with his partner Karen. --Randy Dillon”
