He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smarker and Anna Smarker (Wolters); his brothers, Francis Smarker, Jr., Charles Smarker and Donald Smarker; and his son Richard Smarker, Jr..
He is survived by: his close friend Pat Houk; his son Kevin Smarker (Alana); his grandchildren, Lucas Smarker (Missy), Jessica Smarker, Beth Ann Smarker Fields (Shawn), Lindsay Smarker Svarczkopf (Nick), Laura Smarker Kelley (Zach) and Jacob Smarker (Bethany); his brother Albert Smarker; and his daughter-in-law Denise Smarker. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home (2001 W Walnut Lawn St, Springfield, MO 65807). A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery (5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804).
