He is survived by: his close friend Nancy Gardner; his children, Lauri Kirkendoll (JC), Hamilton, Brian Poynter (Kelsey Whitt) of Parkville, MO, David Poynter (Danielle), Emily Saxton (Wade) of Lathrop, MO, Hannah Ohrt (Dylan) of Overland Park, KS, Olivia Poynter and Jake Gardner of Ozark, MO; his siblings, Diane Winger (Chip) and Charlie Poynter (LeeAnn) of Kansas City, MO; and his grandchildren, Halee, Makenna, Riley, Violet and Matthew.
