He was predeceased by: his father Albert Steffes; his siblings, Brian, Larry, Steve and Sheryl Ann; and his parents-in-law, Max and Peggy Ammons of Aurela, Iowa..

He is survived by: his fiancée Sheila Ammons; his wife Sheila Steffes; his daughters, Jennifer Steffes Passanise and Molly Marie Steffes (Ozarks); his sons-in-law, Jeffrey Reed and Joseph Passanise; his mother Irene Ann Halbur Steffes of Alta; his brother James Steffes (Patsy) of Bonne Terre, Missouri; his grandchildren, Isabella Marie Passanise and Joseph Samuel Passanise II of Springfield, Missouri; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Ammons (Deb) of Sioux City, Iowa and Tracy Ammons (Brenda) of Lexington. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
