He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Hanson (Davis); and his sons, James (Gloria Hanson) and Thomas (Bonney Hanson). He is also survived by grandchildren, nine (9) great-grandchildren, and two (2) great-great-grandchildren.

“We knew Russ for many years but especially as college students at BBC and as church members at Grace Bible Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. We served our Lord in various ministries together enjoying each other's friendship and fellowship. When we went to the Netherlands as missionaries in 1976 Russ stayed in contact with us. I remember Russ as a faithful, genuine and dedicated Christian who memorized Scripture with a godly passion and commitment. Cork and Ruth Albright”
