He was predeceased by: his brother David Reid Nelson; his parents, Fern Holloway Nelson and John Samuel Guy Nelson; and his stepfather Floyd Edward Thomas Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Hoobler Nelson; his daughters, Angela Nelson Martin of Camdenton, MO and Cynthia Nelson Wiseman of Springfield, MO; his granddaughter Peyton Wiseman; his sons-in-law, Rich Martin and Heath Wiseman; and his sister Eileen Hendrickson of Hutchinson, KS.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to be given to First United Methodist Church in Independence KS, or King's Way United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO.
