He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Burks and Ruth Burks (Brown); his wife Eva Jean Ray; his daughters, Linda Burks, Eveann Heflin, Dawn Damron, Pamela Burks and Sheila Durbin; his granddaughter Melissa Burks; and his siblings, R. D., Grady of William, J. W., Steve, Inez, Katie and Frankie.
He is survived by: his children, Dana Carrico (Melvin) of Granite City, IL, Velier Anderson (Rodney) of Madison, IL, Johnny Burks II (Angela) of Dittmer, IL and Katie Hoke (Howard) of Sullivan, MO; and his sisters, Kathy Odem (Art) of Potosi, MO and Judy Hastings (J. D.) of St. Genevieve, MO. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gospel Assembly of God (900 Acid Mine Rd, Sullivan, MO 63080). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
