We are sad to announce that on August 21, 2025, at the age of 79, Sylvia R. Thurmond of Sullivan, Missouri passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her mothers, Ina Elbert (Hooper) and Ruth Peeler; her sisters, Linda Sue Simmons, Lexine Kipley and Catherine Marie Stone; her parents-in-law, Leo and Ellen Thurmond; and her brothers-in-law, Eddie Thurmond, Byron Thurmond and Les Schatz.
She is survived by: her husband Jerry Thurmond of Sullivan, MO; her children, Jeff Thurmond (Peggy) of Sullivan, Diana Kleinberg (Monte) of Sullivan and Kimberly Volz (Robert) of Bourbon, MO; her grandchildren, Ciara Claus (Josh) of Stanton, MO, Chelsey Nizick (Jeff) of St. Louis, MO, Jeffrey Thurmond (Taylor) of Union, MO, Chelsi Roach of Bourbon, MO, Ashley Clausen of Columbia, MO, Derick Keller (Cassy) of Stanton, MO, Seth Kleinberg (Lauryn) of Labadie, MO, Shawn Gregory of St. Clair, MO and Taylor Medlin (Cole) of Spring Bluff, MO; her great grandchildren, Rayna, Vayda, Joshua, Bella, Rowan, Phoenix, Alayna, Adaliegh, Elijah, Denver, Jaden, Lucas, Cruz, Owen and Ava Rose; and her siblings-in-law, Steve Thurmond (Donna) of Sullivan, Mark Thurmond of Sullivan, Leola Schatz of Sullivan and Sharon Thurmond of Sullivan. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Memorials may be given Sylvia's memory to the St. James Veterans Home and/or Whatever It Takes.
