He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Vaughn of Thayer; his grandson Dillyn (Chloe); his great grandchild June Elizabeth Carter Hurtt; his sisters, Sylvia Childers of Thayer and Yvonne Cagel of Thayer; his siblings-in-law, Everett Vaughn of Grove, OK and Dee Vincent of Booneville, MO; and his son James William Hurtt II (Rebecca) of Thayer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
