He was predeceased by : his parents, Max Carl Rakes and Dolores Arlene Jones; his wife Barbara Powell Rakes; and his siblings, Tammy Baker, Pearl Baker, Leroy Baker and Carl Rakes.

He is survived by : his close friend Judy Hawkins; his children, Jessica Mixon (Patrick) of Grand Junction, Colorado., Ruth Matthews of Grand Junction, Colorado. and Carl Gray (Chasity) of Fruita Colorado; his grandchildren, Anna, Shyla, Eve, Darrius, Corey, Darrien and Caleb; and his siblings, Becky McCall (Don) of Mt. Home, Idaho, C. L. Baker (Kelly) of Grand Junction and Van Baker of Grand Junction.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
