For Emil is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil G. Poertner and Alvina Alt Poertner; and his wife Neola Yoest. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Emil's final gift was to donate his body to the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Those who want to honor his life are asked to make a donation to a charity of their choosing.
