He was predeceased by: his parents, Loy Petero and Kethell Petero; his former wife Mary Petero; and his siblings, Joyce, Jerry, Joan and Joe.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Petero; his son Clay Petero of North Carolina; his stepchildren, Donna McMillen-Dailey (Dave) of Pacific, MO, Bill McMillen (Sandy Vantieghem) of DeSoto, MO and Craig Mitchell (Mary Pat) of Eureka, MO; and his brother Jack Petero (Karen) of Pevely, MO. He is also survived by three grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
