He was loved and cherished by many people including : his mother Church; his wife Georgia; his children, Laura Kroupa (Eugene), Robert Petersen (Nancy), Thomas Petersen (Ann) and Kathryn Wolski (Steven); his grandchildren, Carolyn Kroupa, Steven Petersen, Kevin Petersen (Caitlin), Kaitlin Gaea (Elijah), James Petersen (Ali), Elizabeth Redlingshafer, Jr. (Rex), Bridget Petersen, Mary Bongers (Nicholas), Jillian Grbcich (William), Matthew Petersen, Jason Wolski (Jackie), Kristin Hammer (Russell), Thomas Kehoe, Eric Wolski and Scott Wolski; and his brothers, John C. Petersen and Eugene "Pete" Petersen. He was also cherished by 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Wellston Center, St. Louis, MO.
