He was predeceased by: his parents, Tharon Johnson and Ruby Mae Johnson; and his siblings, Sonny Shuemate, Freddie Lingle and Mary Solomon.
He is survived by: his significant other Barbara Ashton; his children, Paula Norris (Gary), Lynn Johnson, Justin Amolsch (Susie) and Jody Spriggs (Carl); and his grandchildren, Dylan Trout (Ashley), Chase Raymer (Hunter), Cameron Bott (Gibson), Chloe Copeland (Logan), Grace Bezuidenhout (Eri), Vincent and Max Spriggs. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the McSpadden Funeral Home - Van Buren (106 Ash St, Van Buren, MO 63965). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at the Black River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carter County Nutrition Center.
