He was predeceased by: his parents, John S. Owens and Lorene Owens (Shipman). He is survived by: his wife Flora "Carolyn" Mays; his children, John C. Owens (Julie), Rebecca A. Brickel, Donna L. Owens (Michael) and Susan R. Ross (Scott); and his grandchildren, Max, Hannah, Lily, William, Kaitlyn, Delaney, Jackson and Evan.
