He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustave Garbs and Bertha Ann Garbs; his wife Marcella Meyer; his son Don; his siblings, Eugene (Viola), Ervin, Robert, Theon (Bernadine), Mary Holt (Layton), Helen Kandlbinder (Alfred), Theresa Mohesky (Harvey), Lillian Bockover (James) and Bertha Becker (Kenneth); and his siblings-in-law, Jenny Garbs, Mildred Bieker (Bert), Ruth Meyer and Gilbert Meyer.

He is survived by: his children, Derinda Dickherber (Romie) and Dan; his daughter-in-law Debbie Garbs; his grandchildren, Andrea Margherio (Josh), Erica North, Jason Dickherber (Christie), Brandon Dickherber (Tracy), Olivia Wise (Jake), Diana Charboneau (Justin), Devon Greer (Drew) and Danica Toelke (Alex); his brother Gus; and his siblings-in-law, Marita Garbs, Delores Gildehaus, Alphonse Meyer, Melvin Meyer (Joann Stephan), James Meyer (Charlotte) and William Meyer (Bonnie). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in honor of Francis's lifelong love of learning.
