He is survived by: his wife Patty; his daughters, Stacy Maguire of Charlotte, NC, Julie Whyman (Dan) of Lamar, MO, Emily Athan (Nick) of Carthage, MO, Andrea Jackson (Ray DeCandia) of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly King (Adam) of Rogers, AR and Tracy Soto (Danny) of Liberty, MO.; his grandchildren, Jayden, Daelynn Maguire, Lauren Marr (Wes), Matt Whyman (Kylie), Miles Whyman, Zale Athan, Asher, Zoey King, Olivia and Salvador Soto; his great grandchildren, Woods Whyman and Elias Soto; his siblings, Randy Compton (Donne) of Rogers, AR, Carol Compton and Lori McCulley (Zach) of Lamar, MO; and his uncles, Kenneth Miles (Janet) of Lamar, MO, Carl Compton of Lamar, MO and Gene Compton of Lamar, MO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mason-Woodard Chapel (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mason-woodard Mortuary (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801). A burial was held on Friday, May 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Hope Cemetery (3700 N Rangeline Rd, Webb City, MO 64870).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manuelito Navajo Children's Home in Gallup, NM in care of the funeral home.
