He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. Piel and Beatrice F. Piel (Blake); his children, John T. Piel and Kathleen Marie Feissner; and his siblings, William "Bill" Piel, James Piel, Thomas Piel, Robert Piel, Mary "Betty" Friedhoff, Beatrice Lowry, Clara Meyer and Eileen Breier.
He is survived by: his sons, Patrick F. Piel, Daniel J. Piel (Kathy), Dennis B. Piel, Christopher R. Piel (Barbara) and David J. Piel (Deborah); his sister Patricia A. Besmer; and his daughter-in-law Janet Piel. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
