He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard M. Schmitz and Rose Marie Schmitz (Hagenhoff); his siblings, Edna and Jerome; and his granddaughter Victoria Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Kay Schmitz of Westphalia; and his children, Edna Webster (James), Patrick Schmitz (LeAnn), Larry Schmitz (Donna), Stephanie VanHooser (Mike) and Aaron Schmitz (Marcy). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
