She was predeceased by : her parents, Dennis Fortson and Eldora McAlister. She is survived by : her daughter Tawanda Fortson; and her siblings, Sandy Fortson, David Fortson, Frank Fortson, Lorine Sims and Maxine Brown.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Daniel Missionary Baptist Church (1516 S Matubba St, Aberdeen, MS 39730). A burial was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at the Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
