He was predeceased by: his parents, A. W. Mitchell and Lula Mae Shields Mitchell; his wife Dottie Vandiver; and his siblings, Dorothy, Maddie Bell, Evelyn, Betty Mae, Eunice, Jimmie, Mavis, Everette, Malcolm, Hartfol, Austin, Joyce, Voy Guy, Donald Ray, Wayne, Jerry and Charles.
He is survived by: his son David Mitchell; his brothers, Earnest Mitchell (Willistine) and Ellis Mitchell (Annette); and his close friends, Mike, Kim Katka, Bro. Rodney and Cindy Waycaster. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
