With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virginia A. Bowdry of Baldwyn, Mississippi, who passed away on April 22, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Myrtle Nevels and William Archie Franklin Nevels; her husband William Bowdry (Billy); and her daughter Myrtle G. Edwards (Bowdry). She is survived by: her children, William Frederick Bowdry (Bertha), Elbert Jr. Bowdry, Matilda Standifer (Lamar), Lisa Henderson (Artemis), Teresa Bowdry, Mary Bowdry and Melinda Bolton (Jared); her sister Effie Betts; her siblings-in-law, Jessie Nevels, Rosalyn McCoy (Charlie) and Murray Calomese (Martha); and her close friends, Catherine Smith, Betty McGee, Janice Tyes and Harry Old. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews.
