He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert Hayes and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Hayes; and his wife Connie McKnight Hayes. He is survived by: his children, Brandie Hayes Moore of Beulah, Mississippi and JohnGordon Hayes (Ashden) of Oxford, Mississippi; his sisters, Faye LaFisca (Mike) of Louisiana, Hazel Burgoyne (Bob) of Louisiana and Pam Allen (Jim) of Louisiana; his grandchildren, Gabryella Tamara Hawkins, Victor Ladell Hawkins, Christin John Hayes, Lennox Steele Hayes and Lachlan Stone Hayes; his great grandchildren, Jeremiah Kentrell Hawkins and Novah Deloris Hawkins; and his daughter Kelly Tweedle. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home (3463 MS-8, Cleveland, MS 38732). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
