He was predeceased by: his parents, George Chavis and Cleo Buchanan Chavis; and his siblings, George Allen Chavis, Betty Jean Chavis and Lavonne Golden.

He is survived by: his wife Debra Chavis; his sons, Robert Lynn Seiler and Christopher Daniel Seiler; his granddaughter Harlee Renee Seiler; his siblings, Joan Santa Cruz (Alan), Karen Chavis, Juanita Ballard and Wayne Chavis; his sister-in-law JoAnn Chavis; and his friend Wendall Derouen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
