She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Louis and Mamie Peyton of Biloxi, MS; and her siblings, Elbert J. Peyton, Regina Buchanan (Peyton), Louis Peyton and Kevin R. Peyton.

She is survived by: her husband Charles F. Hanshaw; her sister Lydia F. Peyton; her children, Vashti R. Peyton, Adrianne P. Ragan (Jonathan), Carmelita J. Scott (Brandon) and Robin J. Perry; her grandchildren, Chianne Peyton, Nicholas Scott, Jonathan Ragan Jr., Christian L. Peyton, Canaan J. Scott, Josiah C. Scott, Giselle Ragan and Jasiel B. Scott; her great grandchild Chandler Toles; her aunt Willene Peyton; and her nieces and nephews, Easter F. Buchanan, Lydia K. Hines (Jermaine), Ashanti I. Beasley, Monique Darden, Emanuel L. Buchanan, Louis O. Peyton, Jeremy Martin, Vincent L. Beasley and Cornelius Harrion.
