He was predeceased by: his father Homer Hayes Powell. He is survived by: his mother Ann Chain Powell of Mount Olive, MS; his wife Elizabeth Leonard Powell of Brandon, MS; his children, Reece Hayes Powell of Brandon, MS, John Murphy Powell of Brandon, MS and Caroline Elizabeth Powell (Ty Clardy) of Brandon, MS; his in-laws, Henry and Judy Mayfield Leonard of Mount Olive, MS.; his siblings, Charles Powell of Mount Olive, MS, Bill Powell (Cherie) of Mount Olive, MS, Lisa Powell Sartin (Bodie) of Heath, TX. and Lyn Powell Fort (Greg) of Hernando, MS; his brother-in-law Chris Leonard (Leigh Ann) of Hattiesburg, MS.; and his friend Becky Smith of Houston, TX.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mount Olive Methodist Church (211 N Main St, Mt Olive, MS 39119). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 3:15 PM to 3:30 PM at the Oakvale Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Orphan Care Adoption Fund, 6071 Highway 25, Brandon, Mississippi, 39047.
