He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonas Hodge and Beatrice Mangum; his wife Annie; his siblings, Nathaniel, Samuel, Jerome and Jessie; his son Jansen; his granddaughter Shaveria; and also Jack Cooley.
He is survived by: his children, Jeremy Hodge, Melissa, Melanie Rhodes (Dennis), Michelle and James, Jr. (Victoria); his grandchildren, Vonjon Pinkston, Darius Rhodes (Erica), Vareion Hodge (Theresa), Denzel Rhodes, Jarel Ross (Shonda), Meghan Rhodes, Venyatha Norris, Khadijah Hodge, Morgan Rhodes Smith (Michael), Jazelle Hodge and Ozias Ealy; his brother Bennie James Roberts (Vivian); his sisters-in-law, Almeta Roberts, Wanda Roberts and Linda Roberts; and his close friend Rosa "Neat" Moore (Harper High). He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church (215 W 5th St, D'Lo, MS 39062). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church (1901 St John Rd, Braxton, MS 39044).
