He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtis Redd Smith and Grover Cleveland Smith; his son Joey Dion Smith; and his brothers, Bobby Joe Smith and Larry Edward Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann Dillon of Franklin County; his son Christopher Smith (Elvis) of Brookhaven; his nieces, Sonia Smith York and Shelley Smith Cochran of Hattiesburg; and his nephew Dwayne Smith of Brookhaven. He is also survived by his nieces and his nephew.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 18th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Riverwood Family Funeral Service (76 US-51, Brookhaven, MS 39601). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
