He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde E. Smith and Mildred Strait; his sister Sue Smith Smith; and his nephew Donovan Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Magee Smith; his stepchildren, Preston Porter and Ashley P. Auttonberry (Justin); his brother-in-law Leonard Smith; his grandchildren, Lexi Porter, Ashtin Auttonberry, Allie Auttonberry, Gracie Porter and Pierce Porter; his great grandchild Saige Owens; his nephew Wendell Smith; and his niece Wanda Moncrief.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery fund.
