She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel James Carter and Caroline Elizabeth Carter (Bennett); and her spouse Bynum Lee Meeks of Mary's Catholic Church. She is survived by: her children, Lee Meeks (Linda) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John Meeks of Middleburg, Florida and Caroline Valdez (Scott) of Valrico, Florida.; and her grandchildren, Maggie Hodges (Hayden) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nathaniel Meeks (Lexi) of West Monroe, Louisiana, Carter Meeks, Hudson Meeks of Middleburg, Florida, Robert Valdez and John Valdez of Valrico, Florida.. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brookhaven or the Alzheimer's Association.
