He was predeceased by: his parents, Estella Buie, and Garfield Buie, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Miriam Buie; his sisters, Diane Buie and Patricia Dillion; his children, Demetrius T. Hodge, Lydell I Buie (Samantha), Sylvester D. Johnson and Crystal R. Buie; his grandchildren, Crystal M. Gonzales-Buie, Lydell I Buie, Jr., Crystal A. Feliciana and Weston M. Hodge; and his great grandchildren, Gizelle R Guzman, Lydell I. Buie III and Katalaya Guzman.
