She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles A. Hemphill and Viola Grace Hemphill; her sisters, Theresa Borquist and Susie Flynn; her grandson Matthew Myles Smith; and her great grandchild Zachary Paul McLeod.

She is survived by: her children, Kari L. Johnson, Laura C. King (David), Ivy D. Sermos (Gus), Matthew D. Smith (Suzy) and Michael L. Smith (Yvette); and her siblings, Sylvia Thomas, Diana Hautau, Jeanette Mackey and Charles Hemphill. She is also survived by fifteen loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A rosary was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (227 E Cherokee St, Brookhaven, MS 39601). Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Francis of Assisi (227 E Cherokee St, Brookhaven, MS 39601). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location.
