He was predeceased by: his parents, John Darling Johnson and Eva Anthony Johnson; and his former wife Dianna Brooks Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Carnathan Johnson of Oxford; his children, Jerry Johnson Jr. (Angela) of McComb, Sabrina Johnson Orr (Mike) of Nashville, Tennessee, John Carnathan (Polly), Robert Carnathan (Carmen) and Leslie Carnathan-Robinson; his sister June Johnson of Charleston; his grandchild Jerry Johnson Jr.; his children, Britian Howell (Andrew) and Harper Johnson; and his grandsons, Braxton Orr and Jon Mikel Orr.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel - Bruce (476 MS-9, Bruce, MS 38915).
