He was predeceased by : his parents, Eva Lois Martin Hughes and Charles Elmer Hughes. He is survived by : his wife Liddia Ramsey Hughes of Calhoun City; his son Brandon Hughes (Hanna) of Olive Branch, MS; his brothers, Robert Hughes of Mize, MS, Bert Hughes (Robyn) of Mt. Olive, MS and Charles Hughes, Jr. of Pearl, MS.; and his grandsons, Jonathan Hughes and Samuel Hughes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
